Description

What we are building

ecoplanet gives industrial companies the kind of energy management a corporate energy department would provide, without needing one of their own. We work with German Mittelstand manufacturers in plastics, metals, and food production, helping them see where their energy goes, catch problems when they happen, and act on what they find. Our platform covers meter data, consumption monitoring, efficiency analysis, compliance, and energy procurement. We're a Series A company backed by EQT Ventures and HV Capital.

Why This Role Matters

You'll be the designer on our Energy Insights team. The team owns our core entry product: 24/7 consumption monitoring, alerting, and the insights that turn load profiles into decisions a customer can act on. Your work covers the whole customer journey, from onboarding and labelling a customer's meters, to surfacing findings they can trust, to making sure they come back regularly.

You'll be the only designer on this team, working directly with a PM, engineers, and our customer success team. Much of the work is improving and reshaping features we already have, so you'll be making existing things clearer and more useful as well as designing new ones.

What You’ll Achieve

Own design for the Energy Insights product end to end: research, flows, interaction design, and polished UI

Redesign existing features, such as the customer cockpit, monitoring views, alerts, and findings, so energy managers can go from "something's off" to "here's what to do" quickly

Design data-dense interfaces (load profiles, consumption breakdowns, anomalies) that stay readable for people who aren't data analysts

Shape onboarding and labelling flows that help customers describe their meters and production so our insights improve over time

Design internal tools for our customer success and onboarding teams. They're users too.

Talk to customers regularly and turn what you learn into design decisions

Help build and maintain a pragmatic design system that fits how we ship

What Sets You Up for Success

Requirements

  • B2B product design experience — you've designed complex software for professional users, not only consumer apps
  • A portfolio showing data-heavy, workflow-driven product work, and the reasoning behind it
  • Comfort working as a solo designer: you set your own process, make calls without waiting for sign-off, and know when "good enough to learn from" beats "perfect"
  • An early-stage mindset — priorities shift as we learn, and you treat ambiguity as something to work through, not around
  • Strong interaction and visual design skills; fluent in Figma
  • Willingness to talk to users directly and bring evidence into design discussions
  • Clear communication in English; German at a professional working level, since most of our customers operate in German and you'll need to understand their feedback directly
  • Experience with industrial, manufacturing, energy, IoT, or other operational software
  • Familiarity with time-series data, dashboards, or monitoring and alerting products
  • Some front-end understanding — enough to work closely with engineers on feasibility and detail
  • How You’ll Grow
  • As the sole designer on a core product team, you'll set the design practice for Energy Insights largely on your own terms — there's no senior designer above you dictating process. You'll work closely enough with customers and engineers to see the direct consequences of your decisions, and as the product and team grow, you'll have the option to shape whether and how a design function scales beyond you.
  • What You Get
  • Real ownership: your designs define how industrial customers experience the product
  • Direct impact on a product that helps companies cut energy waste and costs
  • A small, senior-leaning team with short decision paths and close access to customers
  • Top-of-market team, flat hierarchy — work alongside people who push you to get better
  • Central office, easy commute — free lunch every Tuesday and Thursday
  • Wellpass membership
  • Regular 1:1s and retros focused on your growth
  • Hybrid setup based in our Munich office, with regular in-person days alongside the team
  • The Application
  • Send us your CV and portfolio — we don't do long forms or generic cover letters. Surprise us.
