Description

We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to take our healthcare customers from scoping calls to production.

Healthcare administration is a $1T opportunity that is largely inaccessible to AI today.

The company gives customers programmable APIs to the healthcare systems where work gets done, and lets them rapidly convert manual workflows into AI-assisted automations.

Our agents run a quarter of a million operations a month across 300+ healthcare portals and systems. We have seven figures of revenue and are growing 30%+ month over month. Customer churn is exceptionally low, and we pride ourselves on strong relationships with our customers.

Why This Role Exists

Large parts of the fragmented healthcare industry rely on legacy systems that have no APIs. AI is capable of work like prior authorization, referral intake and patient scheduling, yet today whole teams still do these tasks by hand.

The company's platform opens up access to these systems and makes it possible to automate any workflow on them. The FDE role exists to turn manual healthcare work into browser, computer-use or API-based automations on our platform.

You will work directly with healthcare customers from day one and make sure they succeed on the company. What you learn from them feeds back to our engineering team and improves how we automate healthcare work.

What You'll Own

Scoping. You join sales and onboarding calls with healthcare teams. You learn how they do the work today and define with them what the workflow looks like and what "done" means: inputs, outputs, edge cases, system access and success criteria.

Building. You turn that scope into a production workflow on the the company platform using our AI assistant or our MCP server. You test the workflow against real portals.

Running. Once a workflow is live, you triage early failures, fix issues and tune reliability and cost.

Account ownership. You are the first responder in each customer's Slack channel. You answer, reproduce, fix what you can and escalate what needs engineering. You run check-ins with our enterprise accounts and spot where they can do more with us. This may include traveling to see customers on site.

Example workflows you might work on:

Prior authorization submission and status tracking in payer portals (Availity, UHC, Aetna and others)

Eligibility and benefits checks before a visit

EHR write-back: patient demographics, notes, documents, orders

Patient creation and scheduling in practice management systems

Referral intake from fax and provider portals

Enrollment in marketplace and carrier portals

Legacy and Citrix-hosted EHRs through computer-use agents

What You'll Contribute To

Product direction. As we scale to eight-figure ARR, your insights will shape where the company goes.

Dozens of healthcare accounts running real work on the company.

The day-to-day product experience. You will work with a high-performing engineering team to improve the platform in ways small and large.

The shape and design of our APIs, which the next wave of healthcare companies will build on.

The playbook we use for every healthcare deployment.

Requirements

  • A track record of building. You have built something real, such as a product with users. You are comfortable with scripts, APIs, logs and debugging.
  • Experience solving problems with LLMs. You can identify where models fail and reason about the trade-offs in reliability, cost and speed between LLM calls, API calls and deterministic scripts. You do not need to be an ML engineer.
  • Healthcare knowledge. You have worked in healthcare operations, built software for healthcare or studied it. You know what a prior auth, an eligibility check and a write-back are.
  • Customer skills. You can hold a conversation with a healthcare team, ask questions and turn the answers into a clear written scope.
  • Location. You are in San Francisco or able to relocate within three months. This is an in-office role, five days a week. We cannot sponsor visas.
  • One or two years of work experience is ideal. Strong new graduates are welcome.
  • Strong plus
  • You understand how computer-use agents work
  • Direct experience with an EHR, clearinghouse or payer portal as an operator or integrator
  • Not required
  • A computer science degree, a clinical license, a previous FDE title, years of experience or an ML research background
  • Who Should Apply
  • A health-tech engineer a year or two in, who kept getting pulled into implementations and realized that was the part you liked
  • An engineer who has built with LLMs at work or in a serious side project, knows healthcare from a job, an internship or study, and wants to deploy agents where the stakes are real
  • A new graduate in CS, biomedical engineering or health informatics with LLM projects and a healthcare internship
  • A junior solutions or implementation engineer at an EHR, clearinghouse or prior auth vendor who wants to build with frontier AI instead of around it
  • If you understand how models work, you have seen healthcare's manual work up close, and you can build, this role was written for you.
  • Why the company
  • You work at the frontier. We have run computer-use agents on high-stakes workflows for two years. As far as we know, we were the first to deploy computer-use models in healthcare. We work with the labs, get early model access and publish what we learn. For example, we were an early-access partner for Anthropic's computer-use tool (our write-up (the company's site)).
  • Your work changes how healthcare runs. Prior auth decides whether a patient gets treatment this week. Referral intake decides whether they get seen at all. Enrollment decides whether they have coverage. Our agents run inside these processes every day, for oncology care navigators, hospice technology companies, prior-auth platforms and AI scribes. Every workflow you ship removes real hours of manual work, and the effect reaches patients.
  • An extremely talent-dense team. Everyone here builds, and everyone here ships. You will learn fast, be trusted early and own accounts in your first month.
  • We are growing fast. Our agents already do years of human work every month, running hundreds of thousands of operations across EHRs and payer portals. Demand is ahead of our capacity to deploy. That is why this role exists, and why the work you do shows up directly in revenue.
  • Experience: 1+ years
  • Visa: US citizen/visa only
